Khalid Al Banna carries a degree in Architectural Engineering from Emirates University. He received an informal training in painting and sculpture from established artists at Sharjah’s Emirates Fine Art Society, in addition to completing an apprenticeship with artist Yasir Al Duwaik, specifically focused on learning the etching technique. The artist has had solo exhibitions at the Emirates Association of Fine Arts and the Higher Colleges of Technology. He has also taken part in a number of local and international group exhibitions, including Emirati Expressions in 2009, the 2005 Sharjah Biennial, the Cairo International Triennial of Engraving in 2003, and Germany’s Hanover Expo in 2002. His works are in the collections of the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign A!airs, the UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Information, the Culture Department of Sharjah, and the UAE embassies in Washington and Montenegro.
